Advocacy Toolkits
A number of organizations offer guides, toolkits, and materials for advocating for music education in your city. While these resources are not geared specifically to city schools, they contain a variety of ideas that can be applied to city music ecosystems.
VH1 Save The Music
VH1 Save The Music Foundation provides grants to public elementary and middle schools that do not currently have an instrumental music program in place. We work at the school district level to identify schools in need.
NAMM Foundation
The NAMM Foundation advances active participation in music making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving and public service programs.
SupportMusic Coalition
The SupportMusic Coalition is a program of The NAMM Foundation which unites non-profit organizations, schools, and businesses working to assure that music education is supported in communities everywhere, and that all children have the opportunity to learn and grow with music.
NAfME’s Advocacy Center
The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) advocates at the federal, state, and local levels to educate elected officials and other key decision makers about the impact and importance of music education programs.
National School Boards Association
Working with and through our state associations, NSBA advocates for equity and excellence in public education through school board leadership. We believe education is a civil right necessary to the dignity and freedom of the American people, and all children should have equal access to an education that maximizes his or her individual potential.
Americans for the Arts
Americans for the Arts provides tools, research, and training that help arts professionals and regular citizens alike become seasoned arts advocates.
